vigil thermo delivers direct temperature readings measured at its probe in either degrees Fahrenheit or Centigrade. Further it can be customized to the user's needs by setting pre-selected high/low and normal alert ranges. Whenever an out-of-range reading occurs a text alert is sent directly to the designated cell phone. There are no monitoring services or middle-men between you and your data. On some networks, these messages can also be delivered directly as email or can be received directly onto a computer using a GSM modem.

In addition to the dedicated temperature probe connected directly to the vigil thermo unit, it is possible to wire in up to six additional temperature alert sensors and have abnormal conditions reported in the same way.
